The people of the state of Himachal Pradesh celebrate their festivals with fun and gaiety. They begin New Year’s celebrations with the organization of The National Snow Statute Competition at Kafuri, followed by Lohari in which people light a bonfire and siege it. They sing, dance and distribute sweets among themselves. In the month of March, Shivratri is celebrated at the famous Baijnath shrine. A fair of cattle is organized in Bilaspur, where people sell and buy cattles. The festival of colors Holi infuses enthusiasm and colors in their lives. In the month of April, people of the state celebrate the Chhat festival. Apart from these festivals, the people also celebrate other major festivals, which are celebrated in India.
